UAS7-Mitgliederversammlung in Berlin

Neuer Vorstand des UAS7

bei der 23. Mitgliederversammlung des UAS7  an der HWR Berlin wurde ein neuer Vorstand gewählt. MGV Sep 2014 Photo Der Ablauf der zweijährigen Amtszeit des UAS7-Vorstandes und das Ausscheiden von Herrn Prof. Dr. Michael Stawicki aus dem UAS7-Vorstand machten eine Neuwahl notwendig. Zum Vorsitzenden wurde erneut Herr Prof. Dr. Bernd Reissert (HWR Berlin) gewählt. Die Stellvertretung übernimmt künftig Frau Prof. Dr. Ute von Lojewski (FH Münster), zur Schatzmeisterin wurde Frau Prof. Dr. Karin Luckey (HS Bremen) bestimmt. Alle drei Vorstandsmitglieder wurden einstimmig gewählt.

In Berlin wurde nicht nur über die Weiterentwicklung inlandsbezogener Aktivitäten der verschiedenen UAS7-Arbeitsgruppen diskutiert, es wurde auch die künftige Rolle des UAS7 in den Vereinigten Staaten und Brasilien thematisiert. Hier soll in Zukunft verstärkt das Augenmerk auf die Rolle der Universities of Applied Sciences in bildungspolitischen Debatten (Stichwort: Skills Initiative) durch Vorträge und Panels bei Messen und Veranstaltungen gelegt werden. Positiv vermerkt wurde, dass die Aktivitäten in Brasilien nach nunmehr einem Jahr bereits Früchte tragen und mit brasilianischen Partnern Projekte realisiert werden konnten, wie z.B. im Bereich der Pflegewissenschaften, mit einem Praktikapool für ingenieurwissen-schaftliche Studierende und mit Weiterbildungsangeboten für brasilianische Bildungseinrichtungen.

UAS7 NY Office hosts fourth annual Partners’ Meeting

On Monday, August 25, 2014, the UAS7 New York Office hosted its fourth annual Partners’ Meeting at the German Consulate General in New York City. Representatives from UAS7 universities met with representatives from UAS7 partner institutions in the United States to share campus updates and best practices, and to set new targets for collaboration in the year to come. UAS7 was represented by Isabell Henel (UAS7 Berlin Central Office), Elisabeth Holuscha (UAS Cologne), Christian Rode (UAS Munich), Ines Roman (UAS Münster), Heike Tauerschmidt (UAS Bremen), and Britta Schumacher (UAS7 Liaison Office NY). Representatives of UAS7 Partner Universities included Dani Ascarelli and Erica Sebastian from Drexel University’s Study Abroad Office, Kathleen Neary and Susan Brown from Drexel University’s CO-OP Office (Steinbright Career Center), Jim Pasquill and Emily Menard from the Study Abroad Office at SUNY Albany, and Kristine Lalley from the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Among the topics that were discussed were the Study and Internship Program (SIP+), collaboration on marketing opportunities for UAS7 and SIP+, research and faculty exchanges, as well as funding opportunities for possible joint projects. After a full day of discussion and exchange, participants agreed that the meeting was very productive and that it set new goals and perspectives for future collaboration.
